PMB 90/150 Exporter and Supplier from Brazil
Soft Polymer Modified Bitumen for Surface Dressing, Modified Emulsions and Flexible Treatments
Brazil Bitumen, powered by Tiger Bitumen (HY International Group), is a PMB 90/150 supplier from Brazil for international importers, distributors, emulsion producers and road contractors. PMB 90/150 is a soft polymer modified bitumen grade intended for applications where flexibility and adhesion are important.
This grade combines a soft consistency with elastic recovery and flexibility at low temperatures. For example, it may be specified for surface dressing, as a base binder for polymer modified emulsions, and for selected flexible treatments or interlayers. However, the final application must match the project design and the supplied product’s technical data sheet.
In addition, each quotation should identify the applicable grade designation, test methods and specification limits. Buyers and their engineers can then compare the technical data sheet and certificate of analysis with the project requirements before placing an order.
What is PMB 90/150?
PMB 90/150 is a polymer modified bitumen grade described within the EN 14023 framework. The figures 90/150 indicate a penetration range of 90 to 150 tenths of a millimetre at 25 °C. Therefore, it is a relatively soft modified binder selected for applications where flexibility and adhesion are required.
A designation such as PMB 90/150-45 indicates a specific softening-point class; in this example, 45 refers to the minimum softening point in degrees Celsius. The applicable class for the product offered must be confirmed in its technical data sheet rather than assumed from the grade name alone.
Polymer modified bitumen can be manufactured using elastomeric polymers, including SBS. However, the polymer type and modification method used in a particular supply should only be stated when confirmed by the manufacturer’s documentation.
PMB 90/150 Technical Specifications
The following table summarises the key properties used to assess PMB 90/150. The applicable requirements depend on the selected grade class and project specification. Therefore, confirm the offered product’s values against its technical data sheet and the certificate of analysis for the supplied batch.

Brazilian specifications. In Brazil, elastomer-modified asphalts are typed as 55/75-E, 60/85-E and 65/90-E under ANP Resolution No. 897/2022. These types are defined by minimum softening point and elastic recovery, and each also carries its own penetration limits. PMB 90/150 is therefore not automatically equivalent to any of them. Brazil also has separate ANP specifications for polymer modified emulsions. Buyers supplying Brazilian projects should compare our technical data sheet with the applicable ANP, DNIT or project specification.
Applications of PMB 90/150
PMB 90/150 may be selected for treatments that require a soft, adhesive and flexible binder. Depending on the project specification, typical applications include:
- Surface dressing (chip seal) on highways, rural roads and maintenance projects.
- Base binder for producing polymer modified bitumen emulsions.
- Flexible interlayers and sealing or isolating layers within pavement structures.
- Pavement preservation and surface renewal treatments, where specified.
- Selected treatments in cooler regions where low-temperature flexibility is important.
However, not every PMB 90/150 product is suitable for every application. The engineer should confirm its suitability against the technical data sheet, local standards and pavement design.
Key Features and Benefits
When selected for a suitable application and correctly handled, PMB 90/150 may offer the following benefits:
- Low-temperature flexibility: may help reduce brittle behaviour when the binder is suitable for the local climate and design.
- Elastic recovery: polymer modification can help the binder recover after deformation.
- Cohesion: appropriate cohesion helps retain chippings in surface dressing applications.
- Suitability for emulsification: selected formulations can be used as a base binder for modified emulsions.
- Modified binder performance: polymer modification can improve selected properties compared with an unmodified binder, depending on the formulation.
Nevertheless, actual results depend on the formulation, aggregate, construction methods, climate, traffic and project design. Always check the product documentation before specifying it.
Handling, Packaging and Documentation
PMB 90/150 requires controlled heating and storage according to the supplied product’s technical data sheet. In particular, avoid overheating and prolonged hot storage where these may affect binder properties. Heating, storage, spraying and emulsification temperatures must follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
Packaging options for PMB 90/150 should be confirmed with each quotation. See our bitumen packing page for information about available packing formats.
Depending on the order and agreed documentation, an enquiry may include:
- Technical data sheet for the offered product.
- Certificate of analysis for the supplied batch.
- Safety data sheet.
- Independent inspection by SGS or Bureau Veritas, if agreed and arranged.
- Standard export documents, such as the commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin, as applicable.

PMB 90/150 FAQs
PMB 90/150 is a polymer modified bitumen with a penetration range of 90 to 150 tenths of a millimeter at 25 °C, named under the EN 14023 framework. It is a soft modified binder used mainly in surface treatments and as a base for modified emulsions.
The 45 is the minimum softening point in °C. PMB 90/150-45 is a common designation for this grade. The class of our offered product is stated in its technical data sheet.
It is typically used for surface dressing (chip seal), for producing polymer modified bitumen emulsions, and in flexible interlayers and sealing layers.
Yes. Its soft consistency makes it a common base binder for polymer modified emulsions. The finished emulsion must then meet its own specification, which in Brazil is set separately by the ANP.
PMB 90/150 has a higher penetration range, so it is softer. PMB 75/130 is more often used in SAM/SAMI interlayers and anti-crack mortars, while PMB 90/150 is more often used for surface dressing and emulsion production.
Not automatically. Brazilian types are defined under ANP Resolution No. 897/2022 with their own softening point, elastic recovery and penetration limits. Compliance should be checked against our technical data sheet.
