PMB 120/200 Exporter and Supplier from Brazil
Very Soft Polymer Modified Bitumen for Flexible Treatments and Low-Temperature Conditions
Brazil Bitumen, powered by Tiger Bitumen (HY International Group), is a PMB 120/200 supplier from Brazil for international importers, distributors, emulsion producers and road contractors. PMB 120/200 is one of the softest grades in our Polymer Modified Bitumen range, positioned between PMB 90/150 and PMB 200/300.
This very soft modified binder has a relatively low softening point. Therefore, it is considered where flexibility, adhesion and low-temperature behavior are more important than resistance to deformation. Its use is more specialized than harder paving grades, so it is normally specified for particular treatments, layers or climate conditions.
For this reason, buyers looking for a PMB 120/200 supplier from Brazil should check the technical data sheet to confirm the full specification, test methods and applicable limits before ordering.
What is PMB 120/200?
PMB 120/200 is a polymer modified bitumen named under the European EN 14023 specification framework. The figures 120/200 give its penetration range at 25 °C: 120 to 200 tenths of a millimeter. This makes it a very soft binder at service temperatures.
A common designation is PMB 120/200-40, with a minimum softening point of 40 °C. Here, the number after the hyphen indicates the minimum softening point in °C. Some national specifications also set an upper limit on softening point for this grade. The softening point class of the PMB 120/200 we offer is stated in the technical data sheet supplied with each quotation.
PMB 120/200 should not be confused with the “PMB 120” grade used under the Indian IS 15462 standard, which is a different classification system. The polymer type and modification method for our product are confirmed in the technical data sheet.

Brazilian specifications. In Brazil, elastomer-modified asphalts are typed as 55/75-E, 60/85-E and 65/90-E under ANP Resolution No. 897/2022. These types are defined by minimum softening point and elastic recovery, and each also carries its own penetration limits. Therefore, PMB 120/200 is not automatically equivalent to any of them. Buyers supplying Brazilian projects should compare our technical data sheet with the applicable ANP, DNIT or project specification.
Applications of PMB 120/200
As a very soft modified binder, PMB 120/200 is typically considered for applications where flexibility and adhesion take priority over stiffness. For example, these applications include:
- Surface treatments and surface dressing, where a soft, adhesive binder is specified
- Flexible interlayers and sealing layers within the pavement structure
- Base binder for polymer modified bitumen emulsions
- Treatments in cold regions or at high altitude, where low-temperature flexibility is the main requirement
However, PMB 120/200 is not normally used where high resistance to rutting is needed, such as hot-climate, heavy-traffic asphalt layers. Its use in any treatment or layer should follow the project’s design and specification.
Key Features and Benefits
When correctly specified and used in a suitable design, PMB 120/200 is designed to provide:
- Very good flexibility at low temperatures, thanks to its soft consistency
- Elastic recovery and cohesion from polymer modification, beyond what an unmodified soft bitumen offers
- Good adhesion and wetting of surfaces and aggregates, supporting surface treatments and interlayers
- Practical handling as a base binder for producing modified emulsions
Nevertheless, actual performance depends on the design, materials, construction practice, climate and traffic.
Handling, Packaging and Documentation
PMB 120/200 is a very soft binder, but as a polymer modified product it still needs controlled heating and storage to keep the polymer evenly dispersed. Therefore, overheating and prolonged hot storage should be avoided. Heating, storage and application temperatures should follow the technical data sheet for the supplied product.
Packaging for PMB 120/200 is confirmed with each quotation. See our bitumen packing page for the formats we use.
Each PMB 120/200 enquiry is supported with:
- Technical data sheet for the offered product
- Certificate of analysis for the supplied batch
- Safety data sheet
- Independent inspection by SGS or Bureau Veritas, which can be arranged on request
- Standard export documents, including commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin

PMB 120/200 FAQs
PMB 120/200 is a polymer modified bitumen with a penetration range of 120 to 200 tenths of a millimeter at 25 °C, named under the EN 14023 framework. It is a very soft modified binder used in specialized treatments.
The 40 is the minimum softening point in °C. PMB 120/200-40 is a common designation for this grade. The class of our offered product is stated in its technical data sheet.
No. "PMB 120" is a grade under the Indian IS 15462 standard, which uses a different classification system. PMB 120/200 is an EN 14023 designation based on penetration range and minimum softening point.
It is typically considered for surface treatments, flexible interlayers and sealing layers, and as a base binder for modified emulsions, especially where low-temperature flexibility is the main requirement.
It is generally not the first choice for hot-climate asphalt layers carrying heavy traffic, where harder grades such as PMB 45/80 or PMB 25/55 are more common. The final choice should follow the project specification.
Not automatically. Brazilian types are defined under ANP Resolution No. 897/2022 with their own softening point, elastic recovery and penetration limits. Compliance should be checked against our technical data sheet.
